Landmark Theater
362 S Salina St, Syracuse, NY 13202
Originally opened in 1928 as Loew’s State Theatre, the Landmark Theatre stands as one of Syracuse’s most iconic architectural treasures.
Nearly a century later, John Tiedemann Inc. led the first full professional restoration of its auditorium—a $1.5 million project supported by state and local contributions.
Our work included comprehensive conservation cleaning, ornamental plaster stabilization, decorative painting, glazing, and gilding. Using proprietary materials and traditional craftsmanship, we uncovered the theatre’s original 1920s color palette—reviving its vibrant golds, greens, and reds. Every detail, from the soaring proscenium arch to the ceiling’s intricate stenciling, was carefully restored to reflect the opulent artistry envisioned by architect Thomas Lamb.
Completed in time for the 2025–26 Broadway season opener, Hamilton, this restoration breathes new life into a historic cultural landmark, ensuring its brilliance endures for generations to come.
