Lambert Castle (1892)

3 Valley Rd, Paterson, NJ 07503

Built in 1892 by Catholina Lambert, owner of the prominent silk mill Dexter, Lambert & Company, Lambert Castle stands as a magnificent example of Gilded Age craftsmanship and Victorian Gothic Revival architecture.

John Tiedemann Inc. was commissioned to perform a full interior restoration of the castle, which included plaster stabilization, ornamental repair, decorative painting, gilding, glazing, and stenciling. Each room—ranging from the ornate Breakfast Room and Drawing Room to the grand Atrium—was carefully restored using both traditional techniques and proprietary products developed for the stabilization of historic plaster.

Throughout the project, our artisans recreated missing ornamental details using custom molds, revived intricate stencil designs, and applied historically accurate finishes that bring new life to Catholina Lambert’s original vision. The restored interiors now highlight the artistry and elegance of one of New Jersey’s most treasured landmarks, ensuring its beauty endures for generations to come.
